When you tour any of the magnificent wilderness areas of the United States, you might wonder exactly when were US National Parks created? On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson created the National Parks System (NPS) when he signed the National Park Service Organic Act. National Parks serve not only as lands of preservation, but also education and recreation. His love and concern for the land he traveled prompted him to write in 1832 about possible preservation by the government.
